The Astronauts Memorial Foundation is a nonprofit organization that honors our fallen astronauts through the Space Mirror Memorial and our living memorial, the Center for Space Education. Since it is a nonprofit, funding of the foundation is mainly through license plates and other contributions.

There are many different ways to make a contribution to AMF. Here are a few ways to help AMF to honor our fallen astronauts by keeping their dream alive and educating a new generation about space. You can also purchase a specialty license plate to help fund AMF.

spacewalk

SpaceWalk of Honor is a brick-paved walkway, which offers everyone an opportunity to be forever recognized as a supporter of America's space program. SpaceWalk encircles the reflective ponds adjacent to the Space Mirror Memorial and near the exciting exhibits and memorabilia displayed at the Visitor's Complex.

It includes the names of those who put Americans into space, on the moon and beyond - as well as individuals like you, who have been fascinated by America's space effort. We have sections for the general public, Grumman employees and RCA employees.

Your participation on SpaceWalk benefits the educational programs of The Astronauts Memorial Foundation and the NASA Alumni League, Florida Chapter.

The official Dedication Patch

The renowned space artist Robert T. McCall created the patch. It honors the 24 astronauts whose names appear on the Space Mirror Memorial located at the Kennedy Space Center. In October1990, the original version of the patch flew on the Discovery STS-41 mission, which deployed the Ulysses spacecraft. The patch is permanently displayed in the AMF Center for Space Education, located adjacent to the Space Mirror at the Kennedy Space Center Visitor’s Complex.

The patch has endured several revisions since it was created. The design features a sunrise against the deep blue of space, with the moon rising above the space background. Twenty four gold stars are scattered across the space background, representing the honored astronauts. A laurel wreath, symbolizing honor and glory, frames the design. The names of the astronauts encircle the emblem.

You can support The AMF by donating $15.00. You will receive the new dedication patch which will include the names of all twenty-four astronauts we honor.

"Those We Honor" Poster

The "Those We Honor" poster is a tribute to the twenty-four astronauts who lost their lives on missions or in training for missions. Included on the poster is a picture of the AMF Dedication Patch and The Astronauts Memorial Foundation official logo.
You can support The AMF by donating $12.00.The AMF will send you the "Those We Honor" poster.

Coming Soon

In 2019, The United States Mint will recognize the 50th anniversary of the historic first moon landing by striking domed coins bearing an iconic image from the Apollo 11 mission. The commemorative coins will be sold to the public to cover minting cost and to benefit the Astronauts Memorial Foundation along with the Astronauts Scholarship Foundation and the Smithsonian. One fourth of the surcharges are authorized to be paid to AMF under criteria outlined in legislation and will help to fund our mission related to the preservation, maintenance, and enhancement of the Astronauts Memorial and for promotion of space exploration through educational initiatives. This video explains the competition that was held for the design of the coin.
